Hey r/tennis,

I've been working on this as a side project and finally want some real tennis fans to try it. It's called Ninety-Love: https://ninety-love.vercel.app/

How it works: you draft 7 skills from 216 players across the eras. Your serve might come from Isner, your return from Djokovic, your movement from Alcaraz, your mental game from Nadal. Then it plays out a full 90-match season and you see whether your player goes 90-0.

It turns out a "perfect" build is a lot harder than it looks. Some combinations that seem unbeatable fall apart, and that's been my favourite part of testing it.

There are also two daily games, if you like that kind of thing:

  • 🎾 Tennis Wordle: one mystery player a day, 8 guesses
  • 🔲 Tennis Grid: fill a 3×3 grid with players who fit each row and column (e.g. "won Wimbledon" × "left-handed")

    • No signup, no ads, no paywall. It works on your phone.

    I'd really like feedback, especially:

  • Players or skills you think are rated wrong (I know this sub will have opinions 😅)
  • Anything that's confusing or broken

    • Post your best season record in the comments. Let's see who actually goes 90-0

    Update: thanks a lot for all the feedback here! I've been building non-stop since posting, and a few of your suggestions are now in the game:

    🎾 Challenge friends (beta): create a room, send the link, and draft live against your friends. Everyone gets the same 5 players each round, 30 seconds per pick, and the same season luck, so the best draft wins. Miss the timer and you get a random pick 😅 There's a rematch button and a series score if you want a best-of-5 with your mates.

    🏆 The ATP Finals have to be earned now: your player collects real ATP race points all season (2,000 for a Slam, 1,000 for a Masters…) and needs 4,000 to qualify for Turin. I've already missed it by 120 points, and it hurts.

    🧠 Memory mode: all ratings hidden, so you draft purely from your tennis knowledge. It has its own stats now, to show who actually knows their players.

    🐐 GOAT vote of the month: one vote each, results after you vote. Curious to see if this sub agrees with everyone else…

    Rooms are brand new, so if anything breaks there's a "Report a problem" button, or just reply here. And if you play a room with friends, post your series score below 👇

    This was surprisingly a lot of fun and also very informative to me, as someone who doesn't know too much about older tennis players outside the current players.

    Damn... how can you tell? It looked very simplistic, and I would have thought that a lot of the project would involve research, itself, more than rigorous coding.

    That sucks. It's annoying because this person is trying to pass it off as some sort of passion project.

    Which is really funny imo cause it's not like you couldn't change colors, fonts and design by just telling the AI. People just tend to not do it.
